Demographic Bidding with AdWords

It has finally arrived, the ability to bid according to your target audience's demographics if you're running contextual or placement targeting on AdWords.

What is a placement targeted campaign?

Inthecity1_thumb_6 Definition from Google Adwords: ads appear next to relevant content on sites you choose in the Google Network. (Placement targeting was formerly called site targeting.)

Back in January, Google AdWords invited a few of its advertisers to join this new feature for testing; today they have made it available for all AdWords advertisers.

What will this allow you to do and how can it impact and change your campaign?

  1. It will allow you to target your ads for a particular age group, gender or a mix of the two
  2. More control over who sees your ads
  3. Be able to run reports to see how your ads perform with different demographic groups
